Come to the Detroit area. Hit up Greenes, Bates, Brays, or any number of other slider joints around the area. A slider is cooked on a flat top. Onions are brined and drained. You toss that on the grill, smash a patty onto that and toss more onions on top. The brined onions caramelize fast. Flip once and put the bun bottom on the burger and the top next to it on the flat top to steam up a bit. The bun, BTW, is specifically the Pepperidge Farms slider buns. They dont lose their integrity when steamed. Pull it off, throw a slice of american cheese on it, a couple sliced pickles and a dab of mustard. The absolute best burgers, especially for the price, that you can get.
