The prestigious South African Music Awards announced the nominees for the 20th SAMA Awards. The annual event showcases the country’s best music talents and Electromode has plenty in their stable. Nominees released under Electromode include Shaun Jacobs, L-Tido, Judith Sephuma and Van Coke Cartel.
Hot off the success of his sophomore album Love Can and opening up for international rock sensation Nickleback Shaun Jacobs is on a winning streak. Shaun has been nominated in 3 categories: Best Producer of the year, Best engineer of the year and Best Adult Contemporary Album
L-Tido, who recently released his second album ‘All of me’ is on a trail blazing roll. He was just nominated for a Metro fm award for this album is once again proving why he belongs in the hip hop hall of fame. He has received a SAMA nomination for Best Rap Album!
Judith Sephuma made her mark as a soulful jazz musician but recently ventured into the wonderful genre of Gospel. This proved to be a successful endeavour with her album and live DVD ‘The Experience – Live in concert’ receiving a great response from the public. The album received a Metro FM nomination now receives 2 SAMA nominations for the Best Contemporary Faith Album and Female Artist of the year category.
Van Coke Kartel
As one of South Africa’s most successful Afrikaans rock bands, Van Coke Kartel is always under pressure to produce winning albums. With Bloed, Sweet en Trane being their 6th studio album they have solidified their place as rock legends in the country and a SAMA nomination was inevitable. They are nominated for Best Rock Album
