PINKIE FEST 2015 REVIEW
I have been attending this event every year since my first experience in 2008. I mean who wouldn’t attend an event where you purchase your ticket, come dressed in pink (if you want) and DRINK FREE ALL DAY. Now this year I was approached by the organizers of Pinkie Fest to manage and promote their Twitter and Instagram accounts leading up to the event as well as photography on the day. Which for DK EXPRESSIONS is a big compliment as we are only 2 and 1/2 years old and already we were the ones who handled the Twitter account and photography for DELICIOUS FESTIVAL 2013 & 2014 and as well as for Thikho Events – REDEFINED 2014 & HEAVYWEIGHTS 2015.
For those of you who do not know what Pinkie Fest is all about let me tell you.
It is a yearly festival that takes place usually in August on the last Saturday of the month. People are encouraged to come dressed in anything Pink and boy oh boy some people go all out. The proceeds from ticket sales go to a different charity every year. The festival highlights the best of SA Music and plays host to either 2 or 3 different stages. This year saw 2 stages and 20 of the best SA Artists like Dj Fresh, HouseHoldFunk, Vin Deysel, Timo ODV, Gangs Of Ballet, GoodLuck, Zebra&Giraffe and loads more. DRINKS ARE FREE ALL DAY, yes you read correctly DRINKS ARE FREE ALL DAY no matter if you purchased a General Ticket or VIP ticket DRINKS were FREE ALL DAY. The stage, sound & lighting production is very well done expect for the small issue I find when having stages somewhat close to one another is that the different sounds coming from each stage can make it difficult to hear, but when the one stage is busy with change over you can hear perfectly. This wouldn’t happen if Marks Park was a bigger venue like say River Sands for instance.
It is always amazing to see the hoards of people that arrive at the Pinkie Fest all dressed in something Pink. Some people got very creative and made unique Pink outfits and some people didn’t even bother wearing anything pink at all, yet everyone had a blast of a time regardless.
I can honestly say that in all the years I have attended the Pinkie Fest I have never once witnessed a fight. I think the reason for that is DRINKS ARE FREE, so if you bump into someone and their drink is spilled you simply apologize and either you or them can go and get another 1 or even 6 for that matter because they are FREE OF CHARGE.
For anyone who has never attended a PINKIE FEST, I seriously urge you to make sure you attend the next one which will be in 2016. You won’t regret it, I promise you that.
