I have Sony headset and I always go for Sony for headsets because I never complained about them and the quality stays the for many many years
I’m using bose QC25 in my office for more than year (pretty much same as QC35 – I don’t mind the cable/non-wireless) and I am really comfortable with it. But don’t have experience with sony so I can’t tell which one are better. Only thing what bothers me is middle part of headphone at top of my head. That soft fabric gets dirty and unclean in time. I have white/silver version so that dirt is visible 😞 wouldn’t mind with black version or any kind of leather which is easy to clean. Do you have guys any advice I can clean it with? Maybe Sony will have same problem? Cheers!

i’ve never liked the way my sony’s fold with the headphone side up. might be a useless thing to worry about but i much would rather them fold down towards me. sony’s sound has always been so much better than bose’s but bose always seemed to hold champ when it came to noise cancelling. seems like sony is leveling up the playing field quite well. my biased opinion, i’d go for sony’s too. always have been and never have regretted it

3 days ago rly? right after Black Friday… i went for Bose and now I am a bit concerned. Sony’s were not discounted a penny though and I grabbed the Bose for ~250$ at Amazon. That is most probably because m3’s are recently released and Bose is planning to release something new next year. Bose are still good if you want to keep it simple and lightweight. If you want to customize a lot and play with the sound, go for these Sony’s as Bose do not offer such with it’s software.
I feel the bass in the Sony is boosted a bit, and the Bose has a more true bass. I agree on the noise canceling of the Bose being a bit better and i also like the features on the Sony more as well as the app being better than the Bose.

I have the QC35 II and I can tell you, they are super comfortable! Sound great, but I cannot tell you how easy to use they headphones are. I love that you can put them on (forgetting to power on) and easily find the power button on the side of the headphones. It also tells you how much battery there is (vocalized). Once again, super comfy. I can wear these for so long it’s crazy.

I went for the Bose about a week ago. I like tactile controls, and the ability to pair two devices at the same time is quite important.
I’m guessing there might be some announcements around CES time, from either Bose and/or Sennheiser to announce new USB Type-C versions.

I’ve had Bose noise cancelling headphones in the past and found out later the quality control was garbage. They sound good, but the headphone structure cracked and the earcup material got gross after a few years. Just Google it and you’ll find so many people with not very old broken Bose headphones because of the thin brittle material they are constructed with. Sony all the way.

Seems like the sound and configurability of the Sony headphones are better, but I’ve tried the Bose so many times in a lot of different stores and as of right now they are the most comfortably headphones I’ve ever put on. It feels so light and comfortable and the noise cancelling always astonishes me. Then again, I’ve never put on the Sony M3’s so who knows they could be 1000 times better.

Listening on my Bose QC 35 ii – easy choice for me.
For me the Bose won in comfort and actively pairing with two devices which is essential for me at work. SONY missed out on that one, and I don’t get that.
I got the qc35’s for Christmas and I already have the M3’sabd definitely would use the Bose more due to more comfortably, better looks and also favourable sound quality. Wearing the Sony’s I have not gotten any compliments. Put on the Bose and have a gotten a couple as I live in Toronto and go through the busy subway all the time

Saying the Bose are lighter is pure marketing. It’s 20 grams, lol. You can’t feel ANY difference based solely on weight. They will feel exactly the same. They only way to know they are different is if you use a very accurate scale that measures grams. Not even ounces will do because 20 grams is much less than an ounce. So if you notice a difference between the two, if one set or the other is bothering your head, etc., it’s other ergonomics, not weight.

B&W for sound quality..it has true hi-fi driver, Bose is for comfort but sound quality of Bose is better than Sony in my opinion as sony is bassy. But you want the best NC then go for Sony… I have both B&W and Bose… also bose BT is weaker compared to B&W and Sony.

Why does nobody ever mention that the Bose are unbeatable comfort wise because the speakers in the ear cup are tilted,so nothing touches your ear. They are the only headphones that have this. I have both tho because the sony touch function is priceless;)

I went with the QC35 because I also own the sound sport wireless and if I have them both turned on me and a friend can listen to whatever I’m playing at the same time.
All the reviews suggest the Bose are more comfortable than the Sonys.
Are the Sonys uncomfortable or are the Bose just better? Are the Sonys comfortable to wear long periods, like on a plane for 8 hours or 4 hours in an office?
Compared both of them yesterday and the NC was much better on the Sony headphones. Not really sure why you would give the edge to Bose (maybe the Sony’s don’t block out people’s voices as well)?

The Sony is a beast on bass and the touch is very nice. I would take them over the Bose because I don’t value the higher frequency blocking and voice silencing ability of the Bose. Ultimately I went with a pair of noise canceling taotronics for 50$. I Would love the Sony’s but I’m saving 300$.

Not sure if you did the noise cancelling correctly. if its in adaptive mode they are designed to allow outside noise in you have to turn the adaptive mode off and crank up the noise cancelling. The one pro I give bose is its ability to connect to multiple sources and to tether sound from one pair to another. which is no small thing imo but better headphones go to sony M3’s hands down.

i have both of them and been using them for a while. i keep going back to the bose. 2 main reasons. 1) i can pair 2 phones as i have 2 phones. 2) calls are clearer over bose. people complain about not hearing me clearly. phone calls are very important to me as i travel very often. but if you are in to all ANC music i’d say stick to sony.

I bought the Bose 2 months ago. While they were ultra comfy, I had lots of connection issues.
I was told that the blue tooth connection on the Bose does break quite a lot.
Sent them back and got a refund. Now looking at the Sony’s.

He didn’t go into enough detail about how robust the Bose are. Another reviewer showed this, you can completely bend them any direction and they fold back, they’re extremely durable.

So I have the Sennheiser PXC550, Bose QC35 and Sony WH1000MX3.
My feeling is that the Sennheiser PXC550 are the most comfortable but the Sony prevail in basically any other category.
Needless to say my sister now has the Bose, I use the Sennheiser at home (since there isn‘t much noice to cancel anyway) and the Sony at work and so on.

I was watching Jim’s review and some others and ended up buying the Sony 3 days ago. So far I like them, noise cancelling is great. Very comfy. The only reason I got the Sony over the Bose was because the Bose felt out dated and the qc45 are coming out next year. So far Sony is the winner with better sound quality, noise cancelling, usb-c, major improvements over the 2, and just very modern. The app still sucks on the Sony, but so far, I like them. I never spent over 200 bucks on headphones. Not sure if the Sony is worth 380 with tax.

I dont like if headphones are too bass intensive. I love clear basses. I had both in comparison, but i think the bose had the more natural / native sound 😉 the Sony Headphones are good aswell, but at least, i like the outter style of the bose more 🙂
I have Sony as well as Bose. Noise cancellation quality of both of them was top notch. Here is where I felt that Sony went short:
1. Touch controls do not work on winter days, especially when your hands are cold.
2. You can connect only one device to Sony. On Bose, you can connect two. This is significant when I am reach office while listening music on phone en route. I need to unhook mobile phone and hook up my work laptop manually everyday twice or more. With Bose, it’s automatic.
3. Sound control of Sony does not synchronise with phone. So, if I reduce volume to almost zero from phone, I will need to increase it back again from phone itself. Increasing it from the touch controls does not work. because they don’t synchronise.
4. There is no visual way to understand whether the headphones are on or off. That matters to me when I am presenting something to other people and realise that my audio is being pulled off by the headphones. On Bose, when I see a small green dot, I can immediately understand that they are on.
5. Google Assistant button and power button are almost similar to touch. So, when I want to talk with my assistant, I end up turning headphones off.

After doing my own research, I bought the M3s on sale… Returned them a few weeks later because they *_(might)_* have been defective. I liked them until I started experiencing a lot of crap that nobody should ever have to stand… I’m sticking with my older headphones for now.
I didn’t like the fact that I couldn’t connect them to multiple devices, I also didn’t like that I had to connect them to a phone/tablet in order to use the customization features. As a laptop user (and I use mine a lot), that was very disappointing. The only reason I can find for why the M3s rotate the way they do is because then they rotate with ear cups to the inside while on your neck, but I would rather have them fold flat “normally” like the QC35II headphones. I also noticed they don’t come with a charging brick (but I guess the 35IIs don’t come with one either) and the USB-C cable is _really short._ Although I do appreciate that the M3s charge via USB-C (because it’s the future) and that they use a standard 3.5mm, again, the headphone cable is short and feels very cheap.

I think the reason the sony’s fold that way is to prevent the ear cushions from touching the dirty table when you fold them flat and place them down. So when you put them on you don’t pick up whatever bacteria that was on the table and put it on your face and vice versa. My 1000XM2 and PXC 550 both fold that way as well. You can remedy the folding/turning problem you were describing by reversing the orientation when putting them in the case so that the ear cushions are facing upward.

Have you tried Plantronics? I own Backbeat Pro 2. Would you please review and compare them with Bose or Any other. I feel, except noise cancellation, Plantronics are way better and affordable than its competitors. I have watched reviews by other Youtubers but I trust your judgment more. As the headphones they are great, but the microphone in phone calls is the worst. Even a little amount of background noise will mess up the sound. If I did use Sony outside in the city area the person on the other end of the phone call did not hear anything I was saying. Same thing in car.
I had the firs version of thees Sony 1000X that I had to returnd and I did buy Bose QC35 version 1.
QC35’s has been a great headset… untill now. I dropped them form night stand and left earcup cover did break open (little clip holding it in place cracked) and now I cannot use noise cancellation any more. Cover hanging loose -> theres loud humming noise. Cover taped close -> there’s high wheezy sound (like if you have mic too close to loudspeaker).
Now I’m planning on buying a new headset. I’d like to buy Sony, but nobody tests phone calls with these. I can’t understand why, as these are headsets, not headphones. Is the newest Sony VH1000XM3 as crappy headset as the first model was?

I have the Sonys and I love them. I got them to deaden the roar of jet engines on long international flights. Between noise cancellation and music you simply cannot hear the engines. You can feel the vibration through your body but the sound is deadened completely.

What’s up Lew, Re: your comment on why the Sony’s fold that way… It’s not to lay on the table, but to lay on your neck/chest which has many benefits like covering the speakers from water and for comfort to the user. No plastic hitting/resting on your bones. I own the m2 and love it. I use it with my Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact and they perform amazingly great together. Try it out Lew. Take care.

Bose’s sound quality is just….crap.Only transit via SBC,while SONY has APTX and LDAC support,not in a level!! I try the QC35II through wired connect and it sounds even worse,maybe when it powered on it has to do some EQ work out there

To truly test them you would have to go outside to see how the outside noise affects them, including how they react to wind hitting them (microphone sounds), and also actually test them against noise, not just in a quiet studio. It also helps to remove headwear so that the headset covers the entire ear. Makes them more quiet aswell.

Honestly, none of these two interested me to upgrade from my QC25. It sucks because I really want a good pair of bluetooth headset and none of these would justify the upgrade. I’ve tried the Sony xm3 in Best Buy and its not as comfortable but has better sound. The QC 35ii has same comfort but doesn’t have the sound quality anywhere close to the Sony offering. Now I’m just waiting for Bose to come up with something that matches the 1000xm3 in sound. Or, if the 1000xm4 can match Bose in comfort

If the headphones are wireless, I have no interest in them. Much prefer wired headphones.
I have the XM3 from Sony and they are amazing. Even with noise cancellation 100% on, you can still hear things like train tannoys and stuff, but nothing else. These also help with my claustrophobia (packed trains with too many people); make me feel like I’m in my own little world. Cannot hear anything when music is playing. This also helps because I don’t need to play music super loud and potentially damage my ears. Very low volume is enough. Sometimes I just wear them with no music playing to block out nuisances. Well worth the money.

The big differentiator between the qc35 and original 1000x came down to mic quality. The 1000x had terrible mic quality and I wanted to use it to take calls at work (as well as listening to music). I had to switch to the qc35 for that reason. I understand it’s not why most people will buy these, but the gap was large enough for me to switch.

I actually bought the Bose 2 days ago. I was in a shop testing headphones and it’s true that function-wise the Sony’s are much better. They also have that extra boom if you want it.
The reason I went with the Bose is that the Sony’s headband looked really flimsy and with a quick search I found that it is. Personally I am not willing to pay that money for headphones that might, and probably will, break within a year. If that was function failure well… But have a excellent set that cannot be used because they decided to cheap out on construction… Have that in mind.

I wear the QC35 II’s all day at work, every day. The earcups leather is extremely soft, they are lighter than Sony, which make a difference if you wear them all day. Charge is a nonissue, I dont even turn them off at all, ALL day, other than to charge overnight. Bose wins hands down.
If you like wearing giant plastic cans on your ears that look goofy af and make u sweat get the xm3s. Sony uses the most garbage plastic even for their top end items they’ve been doing it for years. These things will crack way too easy for 400 dollars. Cant even use them outside or while laying down because the touch interface trash if you are in any type of colder climate it starts bugging out and it also gets activated by pillows blankets etc. Comfort is king i cant wear these things more than 2 hours. Bose i can wear all day i will sacrifice a little BASS from the sony plus they are 349 thats almost 400 with tax i grabbed the bose for 280. it was an easy decision for me.

I own the Sony’s, they’re truly amazing. When you put the on for the first time, it’s really a mind-blowing experience. I haven’t tried the Bose, but i did a lot of research prior to making my purchase–the Sony s dethroned the Bose by every metric. Both headphones are expensive, so if you have 300 bucks to spend, I recommend you go with Sony.
