The Live Series Presents Joey Rasdien & Jason Goliath




The Live Series is a 75-minute stand-up comedy special featuring one of South Africa’s best comedians.

During the month of August, the comedic platform presents The Live Series with Joey Rasdien, 4 & 5 August 2017 and The Live Series with Jason Goliath, 18 & 19 August 2017 at Gold Reef’s Lyric Theatre.

Produced by award-winning production company, Mannequin Pictures and following in the footsteps of entertainment giants, Netflix, The Live Series was developed exclusively for DSTV’s Box Office.

However, a few die hard comedy fans are able to get their dose of laughter before the Box Office debut as the comedy special is always filmed in front of a live audience.

This will be The Live Seriesfifth and sixth episode previously featuring comedy greats such as Barry Hilton, Marc Lottering, Donovan Goliath and an election themed special entitled The National Comics Party.

Joey Rasdien’s absurd yet thought-provoking stand-up comedy has become the voice of a new generation of South African comedy. He is instantly recognisable thanks to his roles in movies such as Running Riot, Bunny Chow, Vaatjie Sien Sy Gat, Dollars and White Pipes, Outrageous Blitz Patrollie and Material with Riaad Moosa.

Joey wrote, co-produced and acted in his own sitcom Rasdien that was flighted on SABC 2. In addition, Rasdien has performed in many major comedy festivals in South Africa and is a regular on the comedy circuit at the country’s leading venues. He also starred in the popular Last Laugh at The Lyric and The Pure Monate Show on SABC 1. Joey has also performed at the prestigious comedy venue Yuk Yuks in Toronto

Having appeared in many television ads, including Cell C, One Life Direct, KFC, The ICC Cricket World Cup Campaign and toured with the South African Cricket Team as one of the faces of South African Cricket.
Joey also appears on the smash hit DVD and CD Make the Circle Bigger with HHP and JR.


Currently considered one of South Africa’s top comedians, Jason has performed at leading comedy rooms and events locally and abroad, is the host of SABC 3’s late-night talk show “Larger Than Life” and is a prominent MC and media personality.

With a commanding stage presence, ridiculous
amounts of energy and a character based set focused on making audiences laugh at life’s uncomfortable truths, he has performed at numerous events and comedy rooms such as Blacks Only, Kings and Queens of Comedy, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival, Comedy Central International Comedy Festival, BET Experience, Melville Under Ground, AWEdnesday Comedy Jam, Comics Choice Awards Winners Lap, and many more.

Internationally, in July 2015, also marking his 5 year industry milestone, Jason Goliath was recognized as one of Africa’s best comedians and invited to represent Africa in Montreal, Canada, at the Just For Laughs Festival. Jason also performed to full house audiences at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland in December 2014, then in 2016, was invited back to perform at and host the festival.

The larger than life comedian is also no stranger to TV. Jason has also featured as the lead in a number of TV ads including Castle Lager, First For Women, Tiger Wheel and Tyre, CTM, Mobicell, Sasol, Bar One and Wimpy to name a few. Jason was also on SABC 3’s Strictly Come Dancing and starred as Gatiep in SABC 1’s sitcom Ses’ Top La.
