4th Marines is the “Bastard battalion” and are the ONLY regiment to be split up.. 1/4 is with 1st Marines in Horno, 2/4 is with 5th Marines in San Mateo, and 3/4 is in 29 palms with 7th Marines.
When General Wainwright (Army) surrendered to Japanese, 4th Marines was under his command and is the only Marine battalion to be forced to surrender. Thanks Army.
For some reason I remember the m24 being a long action rifle even in .308 because it could have been converted to 300 win mag if they had the means to do so. Maybe it wasn’t in the Marine Corp but them one I was issued in the Army was a long action.

Cpl Parker and the Marines that were killed were my boys. I know this story well.. I had served in 3/5 as a platoon Sgt. When AJ was a LCpl and then I was with 2/4 a year later in Ramadi when that team was murdered on that rooftop. Still have to go visit the old units to see that memorial

My old boss at the gun shop was a marine sniper and then became an army rifle instructor. He always said he was a PIG not a HOG. He had buddies with hogs teeth, and he wasn’t one of them. I didn’t know what the hogs tooth was until now.
Sergeant Major: “Soldier, how did you get that close to me?”
Sniper Chavez: “Sniper approached the instructor by being a sneaky bastard, Sergeant Major!”
