World famous Egyptologist and archaeologist Dr Zahi Hawass will be in South Africa later this month to present two exciting multimedia presentations about his Adventures in Archaeology on the occasion of the TUTANKHAMUNHis Tomb and His Treasures exhibition currently on at Silverstar Casino, Mogale City, Muldersdrift.  A first for South Africa, the not-to-be-missed Zahi Hawass presentations take place in Silverstar’s Platinum Ballroom on:

 Tuesday, 27 January and

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

at 19h00 on both days.


Dr Zahi Hawass is one of the most renowned archaeologists recognised globally for his countless excavations, research projects, publications, television documentaries and lecture tours that testify to his prolific and esteemed career. Until the political upheaval in Egypt in 2011 he was the Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities.


Over the course of the approximately 90-minute multimedia presentation, Dr Hawass will talk about:

  • the search for the tomb of Queen Nefertiti,
  • new insights into the tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and
  • exciting research into the tombs of Cleopatra and Mark Anthony.

He will also introduce the mystery of the great pyramids and the Sphinx, as well as: 

  • the discovery of the tombs of the pyramid builders.
  • The discovery of the family of King Tut and the mystery of the Golden King’s sudden death, as well as
  • the discovery of the mummy of Queen Hatshepsut and
  • the search for Queen Nefertiti’s mummy also feature.

 Biographical anecdotes and personal experiences from his many years of scientific endeavour will round off his presentation.


“Pyramids, Mummies and Cleopatra: Recent Discoveries” will be presented at 19h00 at Silverstar Casino on 27 and 28 January 2015.
