My neighbor is 85 he’s tougher than most 50 year olds. He is a wealth of knowledge & I love hanging out with him. He’s taught me so many new skills. He boxed in the Navy.
I met and did some plumbing work for Mr. Ray Akins, he served in Okinawa, i believe. He was Drew Brees’ grandpa. In casual conversation in his driveway in Franklin, TX he told me sumpn. Theres just so many ways to kill a man with your bare hands !
A Marine is dangerous at any age….

Ive seen an 82 year old drop three dudes who were messing with his great grand baby.
I saw my grandpa knock two younger guys out when we went to pick up my uncle Ronnie from the bar. Consequently, these guys had been regulars at this establishment and previously had been picking on the old guy. The old guy was a WW2 veteran and my grandpas oldest surviving friend. War buddies is a different breed of relationship, it’s a deep and intense bond that grandpa took seriously. We pull into the parking lot and the only free parking spot is being taken by these two guys in their middle twenties standing there sharing a cigarette . He beeped and nobody acknowledged him, he beeped again and they paused ever so briefly and then proceeded to their conversation. So grandpa laid on the horn and that got their attention to which they replied with a middle finger. So grandpa put the truck in park and told me to stay inside. He walked over and delivered a whooping so profound that afterwards my grandpa had time to go inside, close out uncle Ronnie’s tab and then assist uncle Ronnie to the truck. The look on my uncle’s face was priceless… but not more than grandpa stepping over these two chumps on his way to the truck. Uncle Ronnie was beat to death a short while after this event. The police didn’t bother to chase down who murdered a drunk old war veteran. My grandpa believes it was the two guys he tussled with but there is no evidence of that. I never saw my grandpa take even one sip of alcohol in my life nor have a negative word towards anyone but after Ronnie passed, my grandpa became a raging alcoholic and a racist. He died a mean old man

In 2012 I got the absolute shit beaten out of me by a Vietnam vet. I was young. Stupid and needed to be taught a lesson. I asked for it. He was very kind and gave me just what I needed. I’d like to tell you that I landed some good shots… but the facts were he beat me to a pulp and I didn’t even get a single hit 😂

I have a Co worker that’s 72 and he still rides race and trail bikes. He’s got a 250 2 stroke that he still hits big jumps on. I’m 34 and have to roll outta bed with back pain.

I knew a WW2 Veteran who retired as a CSM. His name was Robert Blackmon. He had a tattoo on his forearm from when he was a POW. Bob did what he thought was right and didn’t take crap from anyone. In his 80s, Bob knocked out a man with one punch for saying the wrong thing to Bob’s wife. When the police caught up to him, he told them exactly what happened and offered his wrists for handcuffs. I miss Bob.
My grandpa fought in WW2, only guy I’ve heard say “Jap” that wasn’t a racist trying to get away with it, still appears to be true. Grandpa would be 103, this guys is WAYYYYYY to young to be saying Jap…. Fkn bigot

Don’t make them like they used to. 14 years ago I was in rehab for my injury. Met a 90 year old man who was in WW2 Korea and Vietnam. His hands felt like bricks. Insane stories.

My grandpa served in 1956 to 1964 as a missile designer. He redesigned the chip in the first heat seeking missile to make it work. He passed away last month. Dick Bastedo 1935-2026
