John knew he was on borrowed time after the first valley. That’s why he did everything he could to distract the enemy and protect his brothers. Nobody “left him” he charged forward as warriors do!
He should’ve been awarded that medal of honour in 2003 instead of waiting till 2018.
So funny civilians talking on this stuff like its so easy even with the IFR what the IFR doesn’t show is all the rounds going by your head. Maybe they saw the dude all fucked up while Chechen machine gunners were raining down on them and they made the call to evac and not lose more.…. They didn’t March into this place they were inserted most people who go to war are not inserted by chopper to a single fighting location. Dudes fighting where it’s “don’t leave a man behind” usually have no where to go themselves so not leaving a guy behind is easy.
I don’t think you can or should judge anyone in combat & the decisions they make. Especially civilians!

They said they checked on him but they never got near him, u could clearly see the separation between them. We obviously can’t make what they went through but don’t try and cover things up, people will think you’re lying !!!!
