Modern contamination is the most likely culprit. They tested around 130 or 140 mummies IIRC. They found about 1/3rd of them, having trace amounts of cocaine. So maybe before going full on foil hat conspiracy. Just maybe think in more plausible terms. Like how many of the researchers & excavators who were handling the majority of those mummies, throughout the 19th & 20th centuries. Had been known to be using those exact same drugs &/or had it around the dig/ work areas etc. There is also the theory of some ancient plants or plant. Which could have contained similar alkaloids. Kinda like how nicotine was also found in some of the mummies stomach’s as well. Which more than likely came from celery or other plant, that they were consuming regularly. Its also worth at least mentioning. Several other research teams did testing also. That were done after the initial study, that was done by Svetlana Balabanova’s team. To try & replicate the same or similar findings.They failed to reproduce the same data that her study did. They did find trace amounts of nicotine, just as she did, but not finding any cocaine. Surely they were just cooking the books, for the illuminati or some other secret society, right!😂.J/K I get it, a good conspiracy theroy is always more attractive. Than some tired, boring & often much more plausible/realistic possibilities. I’m not saying the Egyptians couldn’t or didn’t reach the America’s in ancient times possibly. It’s just highly unlikely based on the facts we currently have. Which can always change course, with new discoveries & “factual proof” showing otherwise.
