I would be careful with the claim that China produces 30 million drones per year, because there is no widely confirmed public data that supports that exact number. What is supported is that China is far ahead in small drone production. For example, China had about 3.29 million registered UAVs by the end of 2025, which shows the scale of its drone ecosystem, but that is total registered drones, not annual production (Xinhua News Agency).
China also dominates the global commercial drone market. DJI alone is estimated to control over 70% of the global civilian drone market, which highlights how much production and supply chain power is concentrated in China (Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International).
At the same time, it is fair to say China likely does not disclose its full production capacity, especially on the military side. Like most countries, they would not publicly release exact numbers for surge production or wartime capability, so their true maximum output could be higher than what is visible.
However, extremely large figures like 30 million per year are still difficult to fully hide. Production at that level would require massive amounts of batteries, chips, motors, and cameras, along with visible supply chain activity and exports. Those kinds of signals are tracked globally, and current data does not strongly support that specific number.
It is also important to note that people often mix together different categories of drones. China produces everything from toy drones to hobby, commercial, and military systems.
