All the data centers are popping up at the same time across the US because they’ve “big government and all the tech oligarchs” have decided to manage your data at the local level. They are building the infrastructure to support their mass surveillance state. Data centers maintain the “data” collected from flock cameras, their microphones, the videos from your meta glasses, cars, ring doorbell cameras, every text message, phone call, tracking of your devices/vehicles etc. Why do you think all the tech oligarchs are pushing for all your apps and social media platforms to move away from secure messaging? So their AI can sift through it at your friendly, local data center. People need to start looking at the billionaires in the US the same way they’ve been taught to look at Russian Oligarchs. They’re the same thing. Billionaires with massive influence on politics. They’re all part of the swamp.

Enterprise equipment can last for way more than 3 years. I’ve worked with companies that have 7+ year old hardware. The only issue comes up when the old hardware drops off compatibility lists for OS/software or when the manufacturer drops firmware update support leading to possible vulnerabilities. If you’re willing to risk the security, you could run gear for 10+ years. You will have hardware failures at that point though but it is possible.

Gpus well that’s a different thing. The gpu company’s are building the roads so if we drive on concrete one day then the manufacturer changes the car they also change the road too so instantly we are now driving on glass and not concrete because they changed that.
That’s why when you use road it’s a bad example we reject every other option then driving on roads because we as a people won’t move on to the better option because we think oh it’s to hard will impact my life
