And now I’m crying.
Beautiful story & obviously that letter was meant 4 u. My Brother was killed in Afghanistan in a targeted attack by the Taliban. I asked him what makes him keep fighting & helping a War that would never end in a win 4 our allies? He said he was fighting 4 the kids. He wanted them 2 feel safe, live in a safe country & 2 bring then joy & hope. He had asked me 2 send over some kiwi candy. I thought it was for him. But the last ever photo of him alive, he was surrounded by happy kids he was handing out the candy i had sent him. His grin is massive. I hate War but after he died & i saw his final photo, i understood why he was fighting 4 people he didn’t know. People he didn’t owe anything 2. It was always 4 the kids. Im so pleased this Man got that letter & he kept it with him. ❤❤❤ 😢😢
The very saddest thing is that we are not fighting these wars for our own country the USA!We are fighting these wars on the behalf of Israel..

When you are in country, the power a simple letter can give a soldier is remarkable. A visit to an APO or the mail call round up is one of the best feelings a soldier can have as the anticipation of words from the home-front are empowering!

True. One of the greatest experiences of my life was in 1990 the Gulf War, getting huge BAGS, ENORMOUS bags of “Any Soldier” mail, from all over America. There were THOUSANDS of letters like that. I was then and I remain today SO PROUD to be an American and HONORED by all the love that just POURS out of our country for us. I got to see, real America, all of of America, come together and unite behind us. It was a profound life altering experience. The love of Americans.
Touching, maybe these things would make you stay more around home you americans. Everywhere you go, you bring death and destruction serving your true masters.

The CRAP in the Middle East caused me great pain, physically, emotionally, and within my family. My kids were young and I was always going “over there”. Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, school sports, music events, deaths and funerals in the extended family I could not attend. The YEARS I cannot get back. For what? I was an officer. You salute and do your job. You do NOT voice agreement or disagreement. You DO your job. Those wars gave my family a disabled Dad, a disabled son my daughter’s brother. Those wars were for heroin, Israel, and the military industrial complex balance sheets. They were NOT for America. America gained NOTHING. We must kill them there, so they do not kill us over here? Bullshit!!! Lies!!!

My name and my birthday is in Febuary, we also had a student in our school, in Afghanistan, he lost his life. We wrote to the troops too, I was 14 years old, but I went to Silver Lake Jr. HIGH-SCHOOL .

I remember when I was in middle school in the late 80’s we wrote letters to pen pals in the service. My pen pal was in the coast guard.
We kept in touch for a couple years writing letters. I thought it was one of the coolest things ever.😊

That letter is very sentimental, but the end of the day when you’re broken and pieces, mentally missing arms and legs defending the red white and blue. Is it really worth it when you have your congressman senators taken away you are veterans rights or trying to or speaking of it yet they’ve never picked up a gun. It’s proof with their actions. The pin is mightier than the sword.
