Josh Duhamel – Transformers Star Reveals His 26-Acre Off-Grid Survival Compound | SRS #310
Josh Duhamel is an American actor, producer, and entrepreneur born and raised in Minot, North Dakota, where a blue-collar upbringing instilled a strong work ethic. He played backup quarterback at Minot State University and majored in biology with plans for dentistry, but dropped out shy of graduation (later finishing in 2005).
He headed west, fell into modeling, and won IMTA Male Model of the Year in 1997, exposure that led to the role of Leo du Pres on All My Children (1999–2002) and a 2002 Daytime Emmy. From there he built a mainstream career across TV and film, including Las Vegas and the Transformers franchise. He had no Hollywood connections, just a small-town guy who caught a break and worked his way up.
Still active in film and TV, Duhamel has deliberately stepped back from constant Hollywood life, spending more time on his land in North Dakota and speaking openly about never fully fitting in: “I missed the simplicity of who I really am.” Beyond acting, he founded GATLAN, a concierge health-optimization company built around his own experience with hormone therapy, which expanded into women’s health in spring 2026.
Raised Catholic, he favors a grounded lifestyle focused on health and aging well, and embraced entrepreneurship later in life. He’s a father of three: sons Axl (with ex-wife Fergie) and Shepherd, and daughter Rocca, born May 2026 with wife Audra Mari, with family at the center of how he spends his time.

The young man is being extremely unrealistic. In an age where AI takes over, it will obviously not only take over computers and systems — it will also control drones, robotic dogs, and other autonomous machines.
So the idea that you can simply live off-grid or hide somewhere outside is an illusion. If things really collapse, if the world goes to hell, if AI chaos breaks loose — call it Terminator, Skynet, or whatever you want — living off-grid may actually make you even more vulnerable, not safer.
Because then hundreds of drones, robotic dogs, other machines, and special units can be sent after you. You cannot hide. You cannot outrun them. Either you comply, or they track you, surround you, hold you in place, shoot you if necessary, or keep you under control until the authorities arrive — to vaccinate you, chip you, arrest you, or whatever the system decides.
So no, living off-grid does not automatically mean freedom. In that kind of future, it could mean you have even less protection and absolutely no chance of escape.
That is why these romantic survival fantasies from actors and influencers are ridiculous. And the fact that this is still being questioned honestly disappoints me deeply — especially coming from someone who was a Navy SEAL, who has spoken to so many people, and who should understand what is actually coming toward us.
If that scenario becomes reality, then let’s be brutally honest: you poor bastards have no real chance of survival.

Josh is such a nice guy. My nephew told me he worked on a Netflix movie and Josh tossed him his keys and asked him to go get a oil change at the dealer for his brand new truck. He also would toss. I think he said a football around with him when he had time to kill on the set. My nephew said he’s very down to earth and a very nice guy.

There are a lot of people who are willing to fight for this country. The biggest issue is everybody is way to comfortable and dont want to lose what they have. When it gets really tough on everybody and people dont fear the govt or prison, then the fight is on.
Good tip on hard copy real paper books. Got to build that library. A good prepper doesn’t have to know all the information. They just have to be able to source the info and be able to put it into practice.

Your children are individual humans and will have their own path to blaze. As a parent, we always want our children to have the understanding of things as we know them now, as an adult, to cushion and protect them. What did you know at their age, or what did you actually absorb what your parents had been saying to you as you grew? Most likely not much. Guide them, allow them to fail. Allow them to figure things out. Then pray, they find their way successfully in a way that makes them happy.

I disagree about just having physical books. I currently have close to 200 PDFs with everything from medical to gardening, from improvised weapons to plumbing. I have these on USB drives and in faraday bags with something to be able to access the media. If your house burns down, all those books are gone. What do you have now to continue on with? Nothing. If you have to leave the house real quick, you can take all the PDFs with you.
You need to have both, physcial books and PDF backups. Since I do have PDFs, I can now share this knowledge with others who have nothing. I keep a file in my Proton Drive that I give a link to access it for people I know. Always have a backup plan.

Living back years ago like yo granddaddy did. Self reliance and actually life skills. Technology has taken the skill of self reliance and survival and replaced the knowledge and know how to easy life need heat go to the thermostat turn heat up not cut and chop wood and build a fire or your hungry call up Uber eats or grub hub or whatever food is delivered not processing your own food and growing your own. Just lost skills for the simple and easy way of life. No more looking up things in a book or dictionary and thesaurus and that kinda skill. You just Google anything you want and there is your answer or YouTube how to do whatever. Anyways I’m only 40 but was raised old school and hard living so me personally I actually feel like I’m a lot older just cuz the way I was raised I literally don’t know anything about computers I don’t even have one. Most technology I have and don’t even know how to do anything more then text get on YouTube or Google and make phone calls that’s it. I would love for the way of life go back to the old ways. If I could live and grow up in any time period it would be probably ww2 era or mid to late 1800s. Anyway sorry for the rant god bless whoever may read this message

Seeds expire. They lose the ability to germinate in a few years.They can be stored in the freezer if in Mylar and at the appropriate moisture level at freezing.
Get a hand pump on your well.
You need to learn how to garden. It’s a skill with ramp up time to prepare the soil or beds.
Consider perennials on your property for food. Asparagus. Fruit trees. Berries. Rhubarb, etc
