Humans have been told not to go back. If that weren’t the case there would be other countries with bases up there by now.
Someone already is. That’s the point.
We never went. And we still haven’t. There are two radiation belts between here and the moon, and, no other nation has gone to the moon that tells me we never went.
Saying we can’t build the tech again is such BS. tell me about a single time in modern history where we regressed in technological sophistication. We arent talking about some lost tech from 12.,000 years ago. We’re talking 50 years ago.
I don’t think he is talking about the actual tech. We lack the engineering discipline and political will to do extreamly hard things.
Its not the tech that was destroyed but the manufacturing practices. We use to have a lot of factories and skilled laborers. Everything from a generous amount of engineers to native weavers were used to make the first shuttle. Now we need china to make everything for us.
Simple answer is we have never been to the moon.
The scientist say the technology has been destroyed bc they watched the machines that were built by the research to build the thing got dismantled. He’s not saying we can’t because we don’t know how. we can’t because we don’t have a vehicle infrastructure. How do you justify NASA’s moon budget when food stamps get cut and kids spend the summer hungry? how do you convince people space is necessary to explore for the sake of exploration?

What if has not talking about making an apallo mission style rocket/equipment but about being able to teleport to the moon in a nanosecond??
We never had the technology and we never went. Why in God’s name does everybody keep believing this shit that the government keeps pouring out and has been since before the Kennedy assassination? The government lies to you over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again and now we all wanna sit back and say oh golly, gosh we went to the moon. We went to the moon because the government said so. You don’t think they didn’t lie about that? Wake up and smell the coffee.

Everything about space is expensive, so if there isn’t money in it, we don’t do it. The moon isn’t worth the cash, thats all. The technological knowledge isn’t lost, but the machinery and programs to build rockets for the government at the scale of Apollo is gone, unless you look at the newcomers.
I have heard that the problem was the mechanical side the way things were made no ones around that really remembers how the things were made. The tec was built with 1960 skills that we just forgot
Aliens were screwing with us and spying on us. There are photos of alien crafts coming to look at us while we were on the moon. Just Google it.

Going to the Moon isn’t the problem. Staying on the Moon in a productive manner, is. Just look at the rediculous costs of occupying the South Pole… And it’s only hours and miles away from resupply or rescue. It has oxygen, gravity, and an atmosphere that supports flight. It is also HUNDREDS OF DEGREES warmer than the dark on the Moon. 😮 Aaannnddd, there’s no Moon Dust in Antarctica that sticks to and infiltrates every space and surface… Because there is no atmosphere or running water on the Moon, that dust is literally pristine shards of glass… not the smoothe, weathered dust and sand we have on Earth.
People crack me up when discussing Moon Colonies, as if it’s just a matter of will…

SpaceX were first in the world that managed to do reverse landing on the planet earth. NASA has never done that, and they want the world to believe that they have done that on the moon 60 years ago.

Going to the moon is extremely simple. You could work out everything you needed on a smartphone and a free an afternoon. The only two real issues are 1) It is expensive. You have to convince someone to pay for it. 2) Quality control. Everything else, even booster technology, is basically off the self at this point. You could even do the basic clean sheet rocket design in the same afternoon. All you need is an decent estimate to a fuel tank weight, engine isp, which is a function of the bell, and the weight of the tank and you can work out how much ΔV a stage has. The math is simple, the engineering is simple. The only real problem is paying someone to build it to standards.
The Saturn rockets used to get to the moon were skillfully built by hand with building techniques that required high skills and out of the box thinking, no one is capable of handling today.

It’s not the politicians it’s not the scientists it is NASA who had a 50 year Headstart on the rest of the world and lost it. Private companies is like SpaceX. can launch a rocket for 5% of the cost that it does for NASA. This is why private industry has absolutely annihilated government-subsidized NASA.

Its either we have been lied to about actually going. Or we’re being lied to about what was seen or found. People lie, so the possibilities of what the truth could actually be might be incomprehensible and truly insane.

We don’t have the facilities to manufacture the parts. We know how, but can’t physically, because e destroys our industrial sector

Guys it’s not some grand conspiracy I mean it is but not in the way you think. Scientists engineers and other STEM field professionals are foaming at the mouth to do this kind of stuff they want to push our species forward. We have special interests political pundits and lobbyists that prevent this kind of s*** from happening. That’s it no further explanation. The only reason we went there the first time is to prove to the Soviet Union we could do something they couldn’t.
Nasa is not an efficient way to launder our taxes, everyone watches and pays attention to a space program, the money is used elsewhere where it is easier to lie about what its spent on and how much.
We went to beat the Russians , then no one was trying to get there for awhile so why bother , now were going to beat the Chinese

Machinist here. Its not the technology per say, but the machinist that worked out the methods to create the pieces are gone. Your better off starting from scratch

We haven’t been back to the moon because there’re no resources to harvest/exploit. Going back to the moon would be theatrics/performative.
It has been explained, very clearly. It’s not that the tech is “lost”, it’s outdated, inefficient and too expensive to continue Apollo style missions as we were in the past. New advances in rocket tech hopes to lower those costs and allow for more Apollo missions to happen again.
I love Don Pettit, he’s awesome.
What he said was accurate though, because once the Apollo program ended there was no system left any more to bring humans to th moon. The tail on that endeavour was long, literally took hundreds of thousands of people to pull it off, and in order to do it again now the wheel has to be reinvented. Even if you pulled out all the old drawings, we couldn’t make a Saturn V from scratch any more.
