For real how many jobs are just company research to gauge possible hires, but they don’t actually hire anyone.
I bet you if I applied to a new job I wouldn’t even get a response back. I’m over qualified for most of the work here but I’m not playing the AI resume buzzword game for crappy pay, crappy benefits and way too many hours. The interest from my investments make more than most people get a year. Why work?
Truck driver with over 15yrs experience with every endorsement, never had an accident, no roll-overs, drove NYC daily, and because I had a country job and drove a school bus for the last few years, not 1 company where I live in VA will hire me without 3-6mos “recent” experience… managerial experience, yet I am told I am over qualified or they will not match their own wages posted for the jobs… these companies don’t want qualified trained people, they want illegals and people without experience so they can take advantage of them and keep them low paid. Something that I have been told personally by a job recruiter.
I tried to got back to trade school for welding and electrician, but cannot secure a schalarship or funding because I am “too old” and don’t qualify for grants of any kind and most places I have inquired to, refuse to hire someone middle-aged to train them, but would happily take a young recent HS graduate instead, yet complain about how they can’t keep the youth employeed in these positions.
Most places don’t want qualified reliable self-thinkers that don’t need to be watched over.

I used to work hazardous waste cleanup. I operated an excavator, skidsteer, whatever was needed.
I’d go into and clean out above/underground oil tanks and sweep up oil spills anywhere.
I don’t see a meaningful future for myself or any kids I may have.
I’d rather enjoy the time I have with the money I’ve saved and end it all, rather than waste my time for it to mean nothing in 50 years.
The cost of living outpacing the paycheck is the problem. Fix that and you’ll fix the economy. But they refuse to fix anything

Let’s be honest – available jobs are less than reported, unemployment is more than reported, and most are underemployed.
I have applied to every job I qualify for and have heard nothing back so that’s part of it
Ita comanys dont car if you have the training for it and all that they look at it your over Qualified and don’t wanna give you that job they would rather protect the managers that are shit at that company then to hire aomeone that is going to do the job right and make it a good work place i cant even get hired at Walmart or anything because im to qualified but yet i put in for others and nothing

I have two degrees and I speak four languages. I’ve never been able to get a job doing anything more than clerical work or pizza delivery. I’m a straight white man. I saw all the jobs I applied for go to women and men who identified as them.
Those positions are fake and handing to foreighners who accept lower pay because they dont want to pay decent wages and theres no Healthcare in this country for people to get back to work either
I wished it was as simple as “just get a job”. When specialized people are actively looking for work and companies aren’t even giving person to person interviews and are instead using AI to deny even a phone screen let alone an interview, something is wrong and it isn’t people just being lazy. In my own experience, I had a team of 16 people that I worked with. Each able and willing, even now looking for work a year later and only half could find work. Sure, these aren’t “normal” laborers looking that I am referencing, but educated folks with years of experience and not being able to get someone on the phone or in person. This trend needs to reverse course as who can buy anything if there’s no money, if these people can’t find work, and are left with 1/4 to 1/2 of what they used to make.
He has a point not hard for me to find work people just wanna for themselves independently or find a loop hole in the system but in my opinion COVID stimulus checks did that ppl just wanna work🤷🏾♂️or just get YouTube checks no disrespect Shawn you was a SEAL so this comment ain’t directed towards you anyway
I’m 64, I’ve had 4 tick diseases that have ravaged me. I love when folks talk about raising the retirement age. Us guys in the trades refer to ourselves as “back whores” I’m a wreck, but illegals get more money than me. I paid in, they did not. Boo FN hoo.

Those people not working in living comfortably or doing it on taxpayer dollar, government handouts and the misinformation about the 7 million open jobs is insane. Ridiculous. The government wants you to think there’s help-wanted signs everywhere and that people are too lazy to do them so they can keep pouring people over the border to steal jobs from Americans for cheaper wages,So they can please please BIG CORPORATIONS that are helping pay to keep these politicians in office that make these ridiculous decisions that are keeping us poor.

They have driven the job salary down by 1/3 in my sector. I know guys that used to make $120k are out there on a $75k salary. These guys will bounce back. America is going to be very amazing in 10 years. This pressure makes employees smart and innovative. They are going to get better, not worse.

The only thing I can recommend is getting involved in health care and/or insurance these careers are well protected and profitable. No reason to follow society norms old friend of mine sold his nice house could not afford to keep it bought a old church for cheap said best thing he could have done. My wife joined a food co-op you don’t know what your going to get but it’s a lot and it’s healthy we figure it out grocery bill is cut by 70%.

Use stems from wages not being better then unemployment benefits or hours being worse, why slave away for Pennys when you could just as easily get the same for nothing 😢 its not an excuse for the lazy rather a sad reality where systems built to support the literally unable get exploited by those that see it as a better option then working at literally any job 😢 similarly a large percentage of jobs people simply don’t know exist and without finding something your interested in working for a soulless corporation becomes easy and jading when there are better jobs and opportunities out there if you just look and it’s not just money you should be looking for yeah 100,000$ a year salary sounds great on paper to most people but when you are work 80+ hour weeks it’s not worth it or when you take a job and are so vital to your company that you “literally can’t go on vacation or the company will grind to a halt without you” it’s absurd but real for some people and that’s just as sad 😔
They still live at home with their parents, they mooch off the government, or live with a spouse who works two jobs to keep everything afloat. No bills, no responsibilities, no obligations. In their eyes, why get a job? There’s no motivation.
