Justin “Mooch” DeLoretto is a former president of the Oregon and Missouri chapters of the Mongols Motorcycle Club and a founding member of its Portland charter. After years immersed in motorcycle club culture, he retired from the Mongols in 2021 and transitioned into a career as a social worker focused on youth violence prevention and at-risk children. He is the author of The Ride of My Life: From Street Gangs to Motorcycle Clubs to Social Worker, hosts multiple podcasts, and founded the Lift Train Ride community, where he shares lessons from his unconventional journey.

Why do people still donate to Shawn on Patreon? Don’t they realize he makes over $10 Million a year from YouTube alone? And that doesn’t even include his sponsors or gummy bears. Like isn’t it CRAZY that people working a 9-5 or are struggling to pay rent and afford groceries and gas, or even if they’re middle class and make $100K a year, isn’t it CRAZY that they donate to a multi-millionaire? Like that is just insane to me. That’s like going up to a guy in a Bugatti and giving them $10 of your hard earned money.
It’s crazy people don’t understand exactly how much youtubers make. Mr Beast is worth $3 BILLION! Shawn’s podcast has more total views already than Game of Thrones did in total in their entire 8 seasons. Game of Thrones has 2.6 Billion total views. Shawn so far 2.8 Billion. Think about that. And all his videos are 2-4 hours long. That’s the highest paying Youtube add revenue you can possibly get for retention and watch time. Youtube pays long format creators the most amount of money per view. He EASILY makes over $10 Million a year from YouTube alone and I would say with sponsors, idiots who donate to a multi millionaire on Patreon and gummy bears he will make well over $20 Million this year alone. And people actually still donate to him, THAT’S INSANE!!!! And all you get out of it is one question lol.
I do love Shawn and his podcast, I’ve been subscribed to him back when he only had 150K subscribers but SERIOUSLY! IT IS INSANE that people donate to a guy who makes over $10 Million a year. That is just INSANE!!!
I wouldve asked him, Why do patched groups of riders, or sometimes unpatched..expect other riders to somehow know not to pass them?

Not sure why Justin down plays the oregon clubs but they are all 1% clubs for sure even in his time. There just small and most are pretty selective unlike how the vagos and mongols are. To me they are the real mc clubs. Bigger is not always better. To explain to shawn they would be considered like seals, to where the big clubs are more like the big army or marines. More selective, Like he said vagos mongols where just giving patches away for numbers. The oregon clubs dont do that your gonna prospect least a yr to join there club, how it should be.

Dude I absolutely love this, not only am I punk rocker 13:20 and have been since I was like 14 and go into local hardcore punk shows but also same thing with the dad situation only my dad passed away when I was 31 after he lost both of his legs. But I had a amazing stepfather that was like what he described, they were very much more of a family that just him and his dad built houses from the ground up by themselves, and they only used hammer and nails for all interior framing work and mostly everything until it came to finishing work. Both him and my step-grandpa could (and my stepdad who is still alive) to drive those 3.5″ penny nails in 2 hits, one to set and the second would drive it all the way home! It was impressive as a kid and is still impressive honestly, because it’s not like it was a big deal to them it was just set and drive on every strikes. Anywho my step dad taught me how to be a man but my father was a friend and the same way he was describing. Very relatable guy to me except I’ve always been a skateboarder instead of a biker. Still similar, atleast the hardcore subculture… Awesome interview
This interview was so much better than most of the biker interviews I’ve seen. I’ve thought most were bullshit because of their grandiose stories. This guy didn’t glorify or exaggerate the dirt he’s done. Which lets me know he’s probably truly done a lot
I met a guy from Salem, Oregon, named Blandori (aka “Grimes”), who had a background in a motorcycle gang. He’s lived a wild, tough life and has some unbelievable stories to show for it.
😂😂😂punk rockers and jujitsu fighters are not gangs lol. Street gang members can’t fight and that’s why they join gangs smfh gang members don’t fight anymore even if they do know how to fight. All they do is stab, shoot, or just gang up on you and your martial art doesn’t work when 20 guys are stomping you out. Not saying that mooch is a chump but he’s never been a killer or a shooter he’s an organizer and a politician. Even in gangs there are jobs for everyone. Not everyone has to be always violent. The most crucial and valuable member is a critical thinker and a strategist. Thugs are a dime a dozen. Intelligence is rare. Do you feel on your soul that you have a part of thousands maybe tens of thousands of deaths which could have not happened if you release that video at the time? Part of your going over to Christianity shouldn’t you own up? As a nurse here in Australia I suffered for doing the right thing. I’m not a multi-millionaire I’m just one guy with a young family who went through hell to stand up when dogs like you just milk the system and keep your mouth shut. Hands down one of the most powerful episodes on SRS. Mooch’s transition from Mongols MC leadership to earning his MSW and helping at-risk youth is a masterclass in accountability and redemption. The lesson on redirecting that intensity toward something positive really hits home. Phenomenal interview. 💯

But yeah dude I just enjoy this whole side of SR knowing enough about punk rock and metal to be educated in it. Maybe it’s just me why I always thought of Sean being more of a old school classic rock kind of dude. But I love everything from early classical music to hip-hop and punk rock, but hell it’s just refreshing to hear from him having much more of a music pallet than I thought
