A nuclear bomb is devastating but it isnt world ending. Most likely a single retaliation before every other is shot down before launch. We lose london, tokyo or new york. They lose moscow beijing etc. The rest is defensive warfare
The pure flight time of a nuclear missile (e.g. „Dark Eagle“) from Ramstein Air Base in Germany to Moscow is between 5 to 7 minutes!
Have a look at the overview of the main countries outside the US that host active US Air Bases or major military airfields!
The United States is the only country, that need only 5 to 7 minutes from launch (e.g US air base in Germany, Japan, Quatar) to another nuclear armed country(e.g. Russia, Norh Korea, China).
