Didn’t we have the same type of infrastructure pre 1950s?
The long term reliability of those ships is piss poor. The Chinese unveiled their new aircraft carrier that wasn’t even finished when it was laid down in the harbor. Then there’s the cheap pot metal that they use for everything, and their inability to produce solid infrastructure at a reasonable rate.
But how well are they made?
Problem is, all their shit is “made in china”!
China isn’t the enemy, our government is.

Massive reorganization of America is needed. But shipbuilding capability isn’t going to determine much of anything

I understand it worked in World War 2, that we had garbage sherman tanks, and we could build hundreds for each 1 panzer tank built in Germany. But… today is a little different. We have such powerful super long range weapons, I’m not convinced that China could just out produce us, because we could wipe out every single ship yard they had in a month. We could wipe out 100 of their ships, for the loss of one of ours.
If you can building a cargo ship, you can build an aircraft carrier or a destroyer

I loved America before I joined the military. Once you see the rest of the world with your own eyes you see how bad this country really is.

Dude has obviously never spent any time on Chinese ships, or in a Chinese shipyard. meeting the Chinese military standard on a commercial vessel just lowered the standard, it’s the foreign owned ships built in china that have the highest standards.

Last I heard, they have more Navy ships but ours are more tonnage. Also, we do not include Army craft (has more vessels than Navy), or Coast Guard in our count. And drones are showing large ships are just costly targets, often.
Chinas economy is in shambles after COVID and its aging population thanks to one child policy is dying off, they lack the skilled labor.
The USA would go to Malaysia and Singapore to build the vessels for platforms
