The shroud has been on display in Turin for many years, and Francis brought to the Vatican to display it there for a time about 4 years ago. So it is not being hidden. It is not breaking news that the image is getting lighter. That had been announced to the public 20 years ago. The Church has always been open about the shroud being the real burial shroud, even though scientist refused to document it due to faulty testing, and stood alone in believing its authenticity when everyone believed the bogus carbon dating. If the Church didn’t believe it was authentic, it wouldn’t be protected under bulletproof glass and fireproof container as Satanists in Turin have tried to set the Church that houses it on fire and have shot at it. If it is not currently on display, they may be studying ways to preserve the image, but it will always reside in Turin where the public can view it.
