Lampley knows his stuff. I like him like this but he was a dog shit announcer. Dude was blind to landed and missed shots. He favored fighters. I preferred fights on Showtime WAY More then HBO. Bernstein and Marv were great. I forgot the Ring Magazinr guy. Larry Merchant sucked too. Thought tec was Howard Coselle. Would always say the dumbest shit. He called Pac a combo of Elvis, Peter Pan and Bruce Lee. Max could call a fight. Stewart was good but he favored fighters too. Roy and George were OK. They didnt favor. I don’t know a lot of people that enjoyed How HBP called fights.
Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas fight was my First Twilight Zone experience in my life, My second Twilight Zone experience, The Holy Ghost coming through my front windshield causing me to pull over and sob like a baby.

I have been a boxing fan since Wifredo Benitez was a champion. This was a GREAT interview. The sport of boxing has been seriously hurting for the last 15yrs and a lot has to do with HBO dropping the sport. It was nice to reminisce about when Boxing was one of the greatest sports on earth. Great interview!

Love this chat. Jim plays a role in so many of my boxing memories. But sorry Jim, Chavez should have been up on the scorecards on the HBO Chavez/Taylor fight. He was beating the crap out of Taylor. Taylor’s flurries were being dodged with subtle head movement and blocks/parry’s. Chavez bludgeoned Taylor and hospitalized him that St. Patty’s Day. Chavez was fresh faced.
