Rogan is a smart guy who knows a lot about a lot of things, but he is the worst place for a musician to come for an interview. Rogan doesnt know music but he thinks he knows music…he isnt curious about the process, he isnt aware of the foundation, he would likely get an F if give a pop quiz about the body of work of the person he was interviewing. Great to get a 3 hour interview with a great musician…sucks when it turns into “well, I know about MMA and hunting and we will just talk about that with Mick Jagger for 3 hours…what does he think about Bigfoot?”

I was sober for 246 months. Girlfriend was 15 years. Her son was living with a loose cannon who smoke drank and gambled and my Gf was first to start having wine with dinner and when she visited her son. I relaxed against my better judgment and it became habitual. She upped the ante to alcohol one evening and things got ugly fast. We have a 3 season front porch. The houses on our street are close enough where when you air it out all the neighbors can hear. It got personal and a couple of neighbors had there phones in their hands waiting to punch 911. Never again.

The state of Rock Joe is speaking about is because record labels, technological advancement, and shifts in power. Record labels have been dropping the amount of rock artist they accept since the 70’s. We went from vinyl, television advertisements, and CDs to mp3’s, YouTube, and websites. Post 2000’s introduced the rise of Republic Records into the mainstream, even Capitol Records seemed to be in the underground. But Rock and Roll is not dead. It exists personally. Joe could be generalized as Rock and Roll, he drinks, he smokes, he fights, he has taste in music. That is how Rock and Roll Survives.

I quit drinking. I think it would be 10 years ago, but for some reason, I relapse every 3 years. I’m sober now, but when you were talking about what that was, it runs in the genes. Both sides of my family have alcoholics. I was never able to just go for social drinks. Made no sense to me. I drank to get liquored, and I always, in the end, ended up in jail for fighting, so I had to quit, but I feel much better now. Way too old for hangovers.
