The main problem of even building a base on the moon and or mining Helium 3 is that there isn’t any weathering on the moon obviously making the dust super sharp and damages a lot of types of material bc of that. There are so many problems with staying on the moon to build any firm base on it.

The fact we are dependent on the moon for our tides and realistically the health of a large portion of the planet should make it problematic to remove mass from said celestial body. Seems like all those calculations of money and energy production by smarter people than myself may be lacking the foresight of damages to earths oceans over an extended period.
It may not be our generation that sees the impacts but it’s wild to me that people are gung-ho for opening that door.
