“Southern hospitality” died with the boomers parents
People never cease to disappoint me.
The news outlets are complicit in causing mass hysteria among the public.
Floridians in the comments being real af. Hurricanes are for drinking and hanging out. Always keep a stash of water just because. Don’t wait for a crisis. Buy it for cheap smh
I have a odd scenario in my head about a small group of people robbing a bank during a hurricane. Maybe someone will make a movie about it?
These are the same people that would call you crazy to be prepared beforehand. As they wait for food , water and gas
Florida and a Hurricane, they see it coming 10 days out and do all this damage and yet a 50/50… they need to try Tornado Alley,Oklahoma here.. Tornadoes are hit and miss, unlike Florida, we have sometimes 30 seconds to get to cover and even then everyone helps each,no hoarding…
You know why because those people are not from Florida… They’re all the snowbirds and transplants.. Florida used to be very Southern in culture… People didn’t freak out like that during hurricane Andrew although they probably should’ve on that put around 2005-2010 you can tell Florida lost its cultural Southern Roots identity
The survival of the fittest mentality makes you weak.
Good, good, nice work…Between your government, guns and mass panic, you don’t need outside enemies
And the same thing happens with tornadoes, SNOWSTORMS, thunderstorms and freaking April showers. It ALL pours money into these big box stores. It’s a diabolical system based on fear.
Bullshit I lived in florida 10 years and it never happened
Our economy seems to run on panic and the media is the biggest pusher of it.
This is a crazy exaggeration but whatever Shawn .. this is the new ridiculous you
It’s a marketing strategy
I’ll stick with disregarding my own safety on the porch of my Midwestern house, thanks.
As a Floridian, this has not been my experience. It’s not that bad. Hurricane parties are the best though!
Yes, the human reaction to Hurricane Katrina put next to the human reaction to the Boxing Day tsunami was an eye opener. The difference in attitudes, priorities, and basic behaviour was very telling. It was uncomfortable to watch and gave cause to just stop, think and assess how we SHOULD react as a population instead of as individuals.
Humans are capable of so much more than we ever give. It’s shameful and embarrassing to be honest
They’re fed fear porn for news.
Yeah if you wait to buy and try to leave, its bad. Buy early through the year and leave the second the newscaster thats FROM Florida says leave or die. Other than that buy some playing cards and dont live in the villages or Miami and you’ll be fine.
As a native Floridian, those people that panic are the tourists and people who just moved here.
This is how we tend to prep:
-First of all you don’t wait until there’s a hurricane coming to get stuff, that’s stupid. You should always have batteries, flashlights/lanterns, a small camp stove+fuel, jugs of water, and non perishable food just in case.
-Second. The main prep is *the liqua sto*. You need at least enough beer, booze, and chaser to get through a week or two. So hurricane parties+ daily rations.
Last-The second you find out there is a hurricane, fill your gas tanks. Both car and cans for the generator if you have one. Do NOT wait to see if the hurricane will actually come anywhere near you. Get that shit done while the thing is still forming.
That’s when corporations really profit from natural disasters.
I don’t know if that was a thing in other countries but here in Germany during COVID, people thought (for some reason) that toilet paper would become rare. And they hoarded.
People would even fight over it and like a self fulfilling prophecy… It became sold out because people were buying way more than their average usage.
😅 It’s ridiculous… Those are grown up people. They can vote. And they think toilet paper out of all resources becomes rare?
Not too much on us Floridians 😂
How about be ready before the threat of a hurricane
It’s better to be proactive than reactive.
Honestly, this just sounds like your average drop shipper! 😂
I’m a Miami native born and raised SoFlo. I’m 44 and have been through the worst of the worst hurricanes and the best of people come out too especially after the storm when we all help cleanup
If you live in a place that gets perennial hurricanes, you should have those sort of things on hand and ready to go. Not wait until the last minute.
That’s why I have 2 houses . One of them is in Michigan where everything is always calm.i also have a diesel truck. Their was always diesel during covid. No line for diesel. Seriously. 😊
The hording will the downfall of most. All that does is make you a target for anyone and everyone else.
2 weeks of non perishable food and water. By the time it runs out you should have figured out how to hunt and fish. By then you should have figured out how to purify water. Stay on the move and don’t get comfortable.
Yeah people used to try to run away and me and my friends used to do hurricane parties
I live in Florida.. Why don’t people just uh buy cases of water, food, and plywood way before hurricane season? It seems like common sense. I never worry about that stuff
Florida man here and Florida has been trashed and become trash.
….and then imagine what happens when there is no resupply….good lucl
This is why I own an Enduro and encourage everyone to. The people in that traffic jam would have been pissed to see me and my girl riding the median all the out of the state lol
i think thats why people are so mean down here in south florida, when the hurricane comes nobodys gonna help you, everyones looking to buy all the food and gas and damn everyone else 😅 😅 its sad to witness really
I mean. In Florida it makes sense that people panic and prepare to lose everything.
It’s when that shit happens Everytime there a flurry in the north east that really fucksme up
Seeing people do this while i lived in florida as i was just trying to buy my usual groceries for the week absolutely made me feel like i was living in a simulation
I mean its the same concept of a seat belt. You dont wear it because you know you’re going to get in a accident but just incase you do. Same thing with a hurricane I would like to be prepared if it does hit
Yeah people are the worst
Because you know gov’t will do nothing….. to help
Unless you live in a hurricane prone area you have no idea
To be fair…Atlanta is always a traffic jam. I went there last year and I was just drivig through to Pensacola and it took 4 hours to get from north to south atl
Absolute b*******.If you’re from florida, you already have seven cases of water in your garage and enough plywood to cover all your windows from last year. And the year before, and the twenty years before that
Such BULLSHIT. I lived thru this in ORLANDO. I had ZERO problems finding supplies. There was a run on Generators but I had one. Yea we had lines but nothing like this . I suspect maybe in Tampa which is run by Demoncraps
