Just wanted to say that I TRULY love this show, that said, I think it’s really important to point out that several of the claims made about the war in Ukraine and the Euromaidan protests are inaccurate and, in some cases, closely resemble narratives associated with Russian propaganda (I’m not accusing anyone of anything, but even unintentionally, it’s easy to end up spreading misleading or incorrect information when dealing with topics this complex).
Also, no actual sources or data were provided to support those claims, it often felt like it was limited to suggesting people “look things up online” without ever presenting concrete evidence to back them up.

I do not understand how Intelligent people can be so biased. Pete Blaber is a a great individual, but I cannot get my head around why he is so biased against Ukraine. No doubt much of what he says is true, on the other hand he talks BS. I hope Shawn has a guest who gives some balance.

Pete put out a lot of great info on Ukraine. He also mentioned the Russian, long-term view of strategy. I think he may have left out an important detail. Russia took the easiest ground in the first few months of the war. The breakaway provinces were not well defended by Ukraine for obvious reasons, allowing the Russians to take ground quickly. Ukraine was able to mount a significant defense later and the lines have not shifted much since then. While the “ivy league” bedwetters in the US and NATO thought they were bleeding Russia dry, the Russians were setting up the opposite scenario. Consider how Ukraine has last an order of magnitude more soldiers. It’s because Russia took the easy ground, then dug in so the Ukrainians would need to play offense. Even though the fighting is in Ukraine, Russians are dug in for defense. Everything is dialed in to defense the lines. This is a very dangerous situation for the Ukrainians and the disparity of casualties shows that. Putin has mostly committed units with old, obsolete equipment that was planned to be replaced. Meanwhile, the EU is giving their newest line equipment to Ukraine. This is not normal military aid. It’s their actual military armaments, no extra. Who is bleeding whom?

>Russia digs in and forces Ukraine to play offense even though the laymen perception is that Russia is on offense.
>The EU depletes its military stores in a lopsided fight.
>Russia has no impetus to talk peace without full surrender, because the longer it drags on, the more lopsided the expenditures.
I’m not saying it’s good. I want the war to be over, because I also don’t want all these men to die. Recall Putin asked for a peace deal after the “easy” phase was over. He wants the rest of the breakaway Oblasts and is taking a long view in the execution. So long as Russian soldiers are on Ukrainian soil, Ukraine can’t just leave the battlefield. They need to either remove the Russians (impossible) or make a deal. The Russians can take Eastern Ukraine with a small relative cost (and injure Europe more the longer it lasts) just by allowing the status quo to persist. The only play for the US, if it wants the war to end, is to convince Ukraine they are going to need to give up more than the battlefield dictates. It sucks for them, but that’s what it is.
With less than 7% of the US population serving in the military, I , as a Vet enjoy the show. What do these real Combat vets think about our Government Politicians and are they supporting a State Convention?

Reading through the comments, I’m shocked by how many commenters are totally convinced that this guy is full of Russian propaganda, that his take on Ukraine is false. I’m not saying the commenters are wrong and the Commander is right. However, It does beg the question, “How do all these people know that?”. He’s a former Delta Force Commander. He has had access to more intel than all the commenters. What are the commenters sources? Someone could say that the commenters are brainwashed, etc, like the commenters say this guy is. Statically that would be more likely. He’s had deep level access to intel and what has the commenters had?
