I was on the boardwalk in OCMD this summer and I witnessed one of the most magical renditions of “Pink Pony Club”. It was performed by none other than “The Korean Cowboy”, in all his sequined splendor. He was absolutely ELECTRIC! This magical middle-aged Korean man was fully kitted out in an all white sequined suit with tassels, Elvis style, with a matching ten gallon hat. He had a full lighting display with a keyboard and big speakers that he rolled onto the boardwalk to perform for tips. He spent a good portion of the night just belting out the hits in a THICK Korean accent. (I mean THICK, like bobby’s dead dad’s accent) The amount of people this man drew for his performances was SENSATIONAL. He had what felt like half the boardwalk gathered around him, absolutely owning the moment. Whenever i get sad, i just think about the Korean Cowboy and all that sadness evaporates with the refrain “… PINK PONY CRUB! PINK PONY CRUB!” Koreans sure do know how to put on a show.
Some of you may think this is just a b.s. story, but i promise you i am not creative enough to have imagined this magical man. If you’re ever on the boardwalk in OCMD I urge you to stop, listen, appreciate and maybe even tip the LEGEND.
