This is why I got rid of social media years ago
Quite literally happy at my age being alone to do whatever I choose for knowledge.
Social media to the extent that it is, ruined everything.
This works only on those who are not comfortable being themselves. Those that feel social media is fulfilling their need to feel belonging.
People that use social media for “likes” are the most alone. Never judge your worth on the number of likes!

Not really, there’s such a thing as long distance relationships, you can develop a connection with someone you talk to, facetime and share with daily just as you would with the friends made that have always been physically present. It’s a way to communicate.
Damn it really is about validation.
Zuckerberg RUINED a Family and Friends Great App when he put Meta in place. I don’t hardly ever get in it for over a year now because he’s got it so fkd up and creeps using photo’s off it for AI. Another fkd up think he done was literally take away as much privacy as we used to be able to have on our personal lives account.

I don’t care about likes and comments and stuff on my social media. I hardly ever even post anything. However, I had a random comment of mine go viral a few months back and it drove literally 10’s of thousands of people to my page who were all liking the pictures I have of some of my drawings and saying how awesome they are and that definitely was an odd feeling. I thought about capitalizing on it and turning my page into an art page and try to build it up but I inevitably chose not too. With this being said, I have literally zero friends in real life that I can have guy time with. I am very lonely. I will go days sometimes without seeing or talking to anyone and I go up to the gas station down the street from me and will stand in there for an hour talking to the cashier just for some interaction. It is not from lack of trying to find friends it’s just most people don’t get me. I got out of the military SF Navy and went to college. I am still in college working on my masters but everyone I meet is either 20 and therefore doesn’t want to hang out, or they are liberal and doesn’t want to hang out, or my dark humor and stories from deployments freak them out. I did 5 combat deployments to the Middle East and was involved in the entire Battle of Mosul. The deadliest battle in all of GWOT and I was there for the majority of the 9 months. I am use to being around bunch of certified badasses and we obtain a dark sense of humor because you gotta laugh. Those who has never been in the military, especially combat roles will not understand how weird it gets haha when you are with this group of men you would gladly die for because they are your brothers. What no one tells you is when you get out because you have such a close bond to those you were in the teams with that it’s hard to get normal friends when you become a civilian. I’ve tried many things to make friends. I’ve bought a boat, I’ve bought a sports car to go to car shows, I’ve bought a classic muscle car to try and find guys in that community, I’ve bought 2 motorcycles to try and get into that community and none of it works. Either they already have a tight group of friends and it’s hard to squeeze yourself in cold without knowing anyone. Or they are too old or too young or they think I’m weird. When they find out what I did in the military they get all excited and ask questions and then they get freaked out when I answer their question and start laughing at the memory of kicking some dead guys head in the dark and it rolling into a soccer goal. (Yes that happened and we were all belly laughing on the helo back. We were looking for this dudes head to take a pic of for positive identification and we were running around this field basically and in the super dark area by a cenderblock fence I was fast walking and all of a sudden kicked the dudes head and it rolled perfectly into the soccer goal that happened to be sitting there. To any civilian that would be horrifying but to me and the boys it was the funniest shit ever. Sorry for the ramble I’ll stil

social media deletion has been the best thing with my friends and i, being disconnected allows us to go on and do our own things then being able to share it in person
It is really the best method of keeping people away from you.
As a Gen X I can remember getting world news from a few TV stations and local news from the newspaper and radio. Even back then when a huge event happened it was a lot to deal with. Now today we have the planet’s news and problems at our fingertips 24 hours a day. Add on endless content and our brains are always overloaded worrying about things that may never affect us.
I actually miss the days of being bored and getting more than 8 hours of sleep a day. I could be wrong but I do not think our current brain is wired for all this content and information overload.

Thats why i like social media styles like Reddit. It isnt about me, especially if I don’t really post, its about what I like. And, less popular subs don’t have quite the same “authority” type of figure as other social medias have.
I had to get off Facebook, X and the like years ago. Reddit probably only works for me bacuse idc about the internet points from strangers lol
