I noticed that s*** when I was a little kid playing with the laser pointer and a cat. The most likely cause is dust particles in the air getting hit by the laser causing light and dark spots and the person’s drugged state contorting reality in order to fit that image. Try to get someone else to notice it without you telling them what to look for.
Chase specifies in the show that it wasn’t a hallucination because what they saw was clear and didn’t warp or shape shift. Also, the “code” didn’t change if their laser moved to one side of the wall and back. Everything was the same to everybody no matter what.
