He also reflects on how critical the gun was to keeping Marines alive, the brutal conditions that destroyed gear and clothing, and the weapons he carried.

I love Vietnam war stories. Grew up reading them as a teenager. I was a 249 gunner in Finance. LOL..yes true story. And I wore Jungle boots. cuz they were light, easy to put on, and easy to shine!! at the time were still Uniformed boots allowed by regs. at the USDB they took my gear for prison dress browns.

Love to always listen when Vietnam vets talk. I was also lucky enough to have grown up with korea and WWll vets.but the Vietnam vets are the most relatable because I am old enough to remember them coming home.
