Golden Globes Honchos Roll Out the Red Carpet

A group of awards heavy-hitters met the press on Jan. 2 for the Beverly Hilton red-carpet rollout, which ceremonies host Nikki Glaser described as the kickoff of Golden Globes ® weekend, part of a multi-event buildup to the Jan. 5 event.

Helen Hoehne, the organization’s president, introduced the others in the group: the show’s executive producers-show runners, Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss; Dick Clark Prods. producer Barry Adelman; and Beverly Hills Mayor Lester Friedman. The six then unfurled a portion of the carpet, a symbolic gesture (and a photo op) that has been a Globes tradition for many years.

Glaser said she was honored to host the event that celebrates the best in TV and film, with all the nominees “hoping to get the love and validation that they never got as children from their parents.”

She pointed out that she is the first woman to host the show solo and because she will be alone, she plans to carry her keys in her fist “and I have to call dad as soon as I get to center stage,” to let him know she’s arrived safely.

About 140 media members attended the event, which was followed by a tour of the press rooms backstage for honorees after winning.
