Lady, you don’t know what a ptsd cortisol-fever dream is, let alone 3 years of sleeping for 45min- 3 hours max (unless you’re in a high-stress environment, then you sleep like a fkg baby!)- ask me how much I’ve spent on white-noise machines, cooled mattresses, sleep apps, mouth tape, literally anything except drugs because I’ll never forget meeting the devil on the “night-night” pills deployed 😂. “Just put up some red lights” 😂 got it
You wake up in the middle of the night thinking about whatever is bothering you? So you’re saying you’re a normal human being? Wait 10 years, then you also get to wake up just to pee… good luck going back to sleep every time after that (because you’ll be normal then, too).

I just realized the reason for my memory recall also causes Alzheimer’s. I had no idea why I couldn’t remember words. I had been taking it for 3 years, then one day when I went to the store to go buy some more, a little old lady told me about the side effects. I didn’t even believe her. I went home, right before I took them I remembered what she said, Googled it and found it she was telling the truth. If you need help sleeping and use melatonin, DO NOT USE NYQUIL PURE ZZZ’s long term. Or at all.

News flash! Absolutely NONE of that stops the intrusive thoughts or PTSD! Or whatever else you want to diagnose it as. It may work with lower level problems and I’m not knocking it for that, but let’s just tell it like it is. It doesn’t do much of anything for those having a very hard time shutting their brain’s down, after experiencing prior traumatic events. You just don’t know when or where it’s going to happen. You can be out of the military for years, have had absolutely ZERO issues in the past, then one night you have 1 dream. The next thing you know you wake up trying to fight off your wife, who’s done absolutely nothing to you, and your kids are all standing around yelling for you to “stop it Dad, Stop it!” Then there’s the most awkward silence where everyone just looks at you like they never have before, like a complete damn stranger in your own home, in your own body. In your own mind. Then, unfortunately for some, once the flood gates are open, your life becomes a struggle because you can’t ever seem to get them shut off on your own again and life becomes a struggle just to navigate thru again. We carry too much anger, pain, regret, sadness, etc. most of us tight it was bullshit and that we’ll just tough it out. We’re tough ass men right? Pick that shit up, put it in your pocket, drink water and press the fuck on!!! Well… that’s shits works for a while. Sometimes a long while. Sometimes even forever. But that just means you’ve succeeded lying to yourself and those around you. Congrats! Your a great liar
I just drink…….tried melatonin but that gave me some weird ass before and after dreams. Like I was asleep but wasn’t asleep and weird ass awake dreams when my eyes were closed that wouldn’t go away until I lost consciousness and then got round 2 of weirder dreams….
Im 3rd shift and the only person i know who can sleep on the beach in the sun during the day 😂
Lights that reduce blue light and some brands also have zero flicker options.
I found a place that does night and day red lights. Day lights above in the fixtures. Night lights in lamps.
The red light helps so much it’s actually crazy

Sleep is a luxury I think alot of people take for granted. I used to try to go to sleep early, wind down all of that. Only made it worse as my mind would race faster out of boredom and trying too hard. Nowadays I’ve accepted I’m perpetually tired with only 4-5 hours a night, and If I do sleep 8 hours, It feels like a bad hangover.

Found some interesting stuff on this…. start your evening by thinking about what you want to dream about, then also pre think about what you want your mind to be preloaded for when you wake up. It’s like making a plan of your perfect sleep and having a preloaded mindset for when you wake up. Preload and rest easy.
Naw. Sleep can’t come in monsters. Prove me wrong. You have to be honest with what you are. She can’t know. Ask her what burning guts smells like. Flesh. Naw. Sleep is for the resting souls. Accept yourself, or suffer the truth. Be the monster they fear , or be your own continuous Hell.

I was 20 some and getting like 4 hours
Turns out I had a torn muscle back then from my hip flexor to back
They gave me all sorts of suggestions
None worked
Anyway, all lead to a dull life
Finally I am healed physically but not correctly, still in pain and stiffness. have to stretch and re-injure the muscles to lengthen and strengthen them again
The good thing is, after the 2 hours of stretching that single moment of relief is so great I have the best sleep for a few hours. Wake up and try again
No medication
Doctor couldn’t help, I only asked for an MRI.
Have to do everything up to steroids first.
Figured out what muscle I tore only like 10 years later because it’s the only thing left that hurts now since I never stretched it. The primary injury affected my hip, shoulder, and lower back.
25 years later, I can still sleep anywhere, anytime but NEVER well.

She could be replaced by anyone who teaches cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (cbt-i). But this can be said for most sleep “therapists”.
The problem is application, especially with ptsd. Find a pain specialist, they’ll at least know of some one if not them.
Double your magnesium and take 20 to 30 units of vit D. This has been helping me to get sleepy and have a restful night

Im single income have a house and 15 acres and I stay outside because that where im most comfortable, 😅 i just caught the fact that I said stay outside not sleep outside. I absolutely refuse to take drugs or alcohol, I cant go to any restaurants because all I do is watch and count the exits and notice people and things and and I just I can never relax I cant fuckin relax I can never relax it never ends I just I work 7 days a week totaling 97 hours a week I just had to put my dog down and we havent been a part for more than 4 hours in over 12 years if he couldnt go I didnt go 😢 im so done with it all I just fuckin cant anymore I cant keep checking and counting exits I cant keep working then not sleeping I cant keep…..

I will look for the recipe in my wonderful roommate created for sleep melatonin and magnesium malate but it has to be the right and there was another one. I like what Sean Paul Jackson said have a journal by the bed with the pain and when you wake up journal what you’re thinking and eventually all that stuff will you will sleep. Matt Walker should have used me as a sleep study he wrote a book called why we sleep watch that CBS interview. I hate to admit this but I used to go to bed at midnight and wake up at 3. My roommate through a lot of sleeping articles at me which I was setting myself up for a stroke and a heart attack so changed my ways. Grew up with some under somebody who had OCD really bad so I had to learn to stop that.
Training fro sleep is harder said than done. I have a shit ton of trauma also insomnia. Severe insomnia where i have been hospitalized multiple times for not sleeping & hard drugs dont knock me out.
Easy for her to say. But racing mind is only stopped for me by using noise or quite TV show

None of the things this lady mentioned are good for veterans with overactive minds or ptsd.
They don’t need darkness or silence. They need the opposite. They need positive distraction.
In 365 days I’ve probably only slept 220 of them. I refuse to take the drugs recommend. I’ll watch the stars like our ancestors ✨️

meditation is a skill that helps immensely. im not talking about woo-woo hippy meditation. im talking about rigorous mental control. you can train the ability to set your mind aside. to silence it. it isnt easy and it takes a lot of work, but if you can develop this skill, you can make it so that laying in bed is never anything other than a blank accelerated drift to sleep. it feels impossible to silence your mind at first, but you can progess from a strenuous single second of total stillness to being able to shut it all down at will indefinitely in any quiet environment.
