My last night raid in Gan we stacked up as always on a small one entry compound with a thick oak door. I was first man in so bravo two jacked the door for an EMOE (around 0300 on the dreaded NVG’s, clack entry was made and I’d course a sandstorm was created leaving even lower vis. All i could see about 8 foot away was a barrel of a rifle that appeared too be low ready but rising. Couldn’t see the person holding it but it was enough (esp on a kill/capture) too legally and morally too dump 4 rounds to what i assumed would be centre mass from my C8 SFW or Colt Canada. We flowed forward no left only a 90 right. Upon reaching the body ((about 8 seconds from the charge clacking off) i looked down to firstly make sure the force was recorded for legal reasons, and realised it was a girl maybe 10 or 11 years old! Confirmed physically proof of death and we flowed on, no time to get emotional no stopping the Tier 1 ball once it starts rolling! There were 8 confirmed males on target which had been under 24/7 eyes on from the sniper teams. Two were not quite HVT’s but only just below the threshold but the others if presenting any threat (women whoever) too the safety of my brothers, were as were the two primaries, too be delt with lethal force. 9 milkes 28 seconds from little bird insertion too exfil the same way. All 8 men got what they fucking deserved for the daughter or whoever behind that door, all legally of course as they all surpassed the threshold of legality to use lethal force. This time also includes obtaining hard drives and phones. Soon as we were on the bird on comms flying flat tack 100ft above the dark desert floor the first words were spoken as none were used on raids if possible training and flow negated that most times…my staff Sgt shouted, “best and most moral kills of my career!!! We all acknowledged that in our unique way!!! Bastards using a family member a child to dent our moral!!
That was me, I was already on the “hard basket” PTS list and those were my final shots in combat. Up to that point I had 4 in as a bootneck, 8 SB, 18 countries served/exercises in and 12 where we were either at war or on a deniable op and I had a maybe “large” confirmed kill count, then there was the coffin and unconfirmed’s…not one had given me any negative emotions or second guessing actions as all were very bad people who did horrific things to not only their own but were a threat too our world and kids! UNTIL her! That on top of all my team mates maimed or dead, and all the other gopping shit was the last straw at a time I was starting to question why we were there, and the legality of it all. Those combined were enough for my CO too have me flown too Germany for psych tests etc and the “how u wanna go out Royal?” I was extremely privileged too return too my patent reg and as a badged Shaky as Wing Command Management, Instructional Oversight and over all Welfareand duty of care for the DS and the potential bootnecks and officers. I had gone full circle and left on my terms with a medical discharge after the 8 month training cycle. However the military abandoned us back then thanks and good luck basically. I developed severe anxiety, had PTS, then bloody rem sleep disorder and became a very heavy drinker too try escape the pain, smell, sight and taste of theatres, but that beautiful girls face etched behind my eyes for many years b4 an admission too psych hospital where I saw an American marine core psychiatrist who put me on a blood pressure medication called Prazozin (still on) used widely in the us gor trauma control and pts, not there (uk) orNZ where I was am! It changed my life in days! Still took years to quit the alcohol and other crap but I’m 50 work as a pro theatre stage manager which I love, and lead a fairly “normal” existence. We are/were not paid serial killers, we don’t find killing fun, we bleed, cry, etc! We are people first and foremost and I say this cos of the constant vile comments from people on socials to my brothers in the UK and across the world! We did our job to try give everyone a safer better life and their kids. Unfortunately can’t pick so even those c**s benefited whereas I lost allot, relationships, a daughter, wedding, funerals, and most notably a part of who I was for a very long time for crap pay, endless time overseas with often zero family contact blahhhh. Not a hero or a legend nor am I a bad person I’m an extremely fair, moral based human and proud to be so! So u wankers leave us alone for all we did and gave for you!! But cheerfulness in the face of adversity! You don’t effect me it just makes me mad calling out people I know or served in same regs with who are all good men and a fair amount men of god, that is what makes me REDDERS! My heart goes out to this warrior. He needed to make an executive decision. And it will haunt him the rest of his life. I pray God gives him a peace of mind and comfort, that only God can give!!
